Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
